Docent-led Garden Tour: 10:30-11:30 am

2 Special Exhibitions: 10:30 am-12:30 pm

Lunch: 12:45-2:00 pm

Enjoy a guided tour of beautiful gardens at the historic estate of discerning collector Marjorie Merriweather Post. Then wander through two special exhibitions on view for a limited time and socialize over lunch.

#1: “Determined Women: Collectors, Artists, and Designers.”

Reportedly for the first time, a special exhibition sheds light on the innovative and intrepid women and women artists represented in the Post's collection. The exhibition looks at the Post family women, in addition to more than twenty influential women who overcame obstacles to succeed. The objects and portraits are featured of a wide-ranging grouping including proto-feminist women from the Age of Enlightenment as well as both ancient and modern rulers—ending with one of Hillwood’s newest acquisitions, a contemporary ceramic piece with images of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kamala Harris, and Stacey Abrams.

This exhibition is a winner of “Editor’s Pick”! —MetroWeekly.com

#2: Glass: Art. Beauty. Design.”

Post amassed over 1,600 pieces of glass, created in the 17th-20th centuries in China, Western Europe, Russia, and the United States. Explore historic pieces in her collection, placed alongside loans, and learn about the history of glass-making techniques. Among the highlights will be rare monumental Baccarat candelabras, which have not been on view since the 1930s.
