ABOUT US

The Friendship Heights Neighbors Network (FHNN) is part of the nationwide 'Village' movement that supports seniors who wish to remain in their homes as they age. It's a system of neighbors helping neighbors that encourages dignity and agency for older adults.  FHNN is a non-profit, member-based organization that services those living in the high-rise buildings in and around Friendship Heights, MD.

Volunteer Services

The heartbeat of our community is our volunteers, who offer their time and skills to seniors living nearby. FHNN recruits, trains, and vets these neighborhood volunteers to ensure that our members have quality, trusted support. Services include rides to medical appointments, technology assistance, social support, and running errands. FHNN is proud to offer peace of mind to our Full Members, and their families, who know we can help when they need it.

Programming

Many seniors want to remain engaged with the larger world, with opportunities for personal enrichment and growth. That's why we also offer our members a rich array of educational and social programs and a variety of shared interest groups, such as crafting, meditation, walking, and men's discussion. Membership

FHNN offers two types of membership to help meet individuals' interests and needs. Social Members gain access to our rich array of programs. Full Members have access to our programming PLUS receive in-person, individualized services by FHNN volunteers. Membership fees are assessed to help defray the costs of running the organization.

Seniors often initially join as Social Members to help support a system that they may need one day (75% of Social Members' dues is tax deductible). Many also volunteer to assist their fellow seniors and then later transition to Full Membership as their own needs grow.

Service Area

FHNN's service area includes the residential, high-rise buildings located in or next to the Village of Friendship Heights. Please Note: FHNN is a separate entity from the 'Village of Friendship Heights,' which is the governmental body that runs Friendship Heights, MD. (Also, we are NOT associated with the programming that takes place at the Friendship Heights' Community Center — it's confusing, we know!)

Most of the buildings in our service area have volunteer representatives who live in that building. Feel free to reach out to the representative in your building. They are happy to meet with you in person or by phone or email to answer your questions.
