National Museum of African American History and Culture, African American Designer Ann Lowe
Ann Lowe, one of America’s most significant designers, worked for some of the country’s wealthiest families, including, the Rockefellers, the Biddles, Janet Auchincloss and Marjorie Merriweather Post. She is best remembered for creating the wedding gown and bridal attire for Jacquelyn Bouvier’s marriage to, the then, Sen. John F. Kennedy. Ms. Elaine Nichols, Supervisory Curator of Culture at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture will talk about Ann Lowe and her contributions to the world of fashion.
