About this event
Reflections on Glass, Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC
Friday, April 14
10:30-11:30 am
This virtual tour begins with the American Glass Industry in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Functional glass objects from the Mint’s Decorative Arts Collection are featured. It includes a look at the Studio Glass Movement and the legacy of Harvey K. Littleton, as well as innovations in contemporary art glass and the artists taking the medium to new heights.
The Mint Museum was the first art museum established in North Carolina in 1936. Before the museum building showcased art, it housed the first branch of the U.S. Mint — hence the museum name. The Mint’s diverse collections include Art of the Ancient Americas, American Art, Modern and Contemporary Art, Fashion, Decorative Arts, and Craft + Design.
This tour is for FHNN and Little Falls Village members and volunteers as part of our collaboration. Register online. FHNN members or volunteers who need help registering can email information.fhnn@gmail.com with Glass in the subject line.
