Orientation for FHNN Volunteers

Bring meaning and connection to your life by becoming an FHNN volunteer. This orientation session is for new volunteers interested in providing direct services to our members. The session will provide best practices to help seniors remain in their homes as they age.
FHNN volunteers provide essential services to our Full Members, such as giving rides to doctors' appointments, running neighborhood errands, providing technical assistance, helping with minor home maintenance, sorting mail, and making friendly visits and check-ins.
We are in particular need of people who are able to drive our members to nearby medical appointments and activities. The time commitment is typically 30 minutes or less and are often to nearby buildings on Wisconsin Avenue. How many rides you provide is completely up to you. Once a week or once every few months is fine. You do not have to wait during the appointment, and you can commit to driving one way (another volunteer will do the other part of the trip).
Our members are located in the high-rise buildings in Friendship Heights, MD. You do not need to be a resident in one of the Friendship Heights buildings to be an FHNN volunteer.

NOTE: All FHNN volunteers providing services to FHNN members will have a routine background check done and sign a privacy agreement to maintain the dignity of our members. Also, all volunteers should be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. There will also be a driving record check for those willing to provide transportation services, which is standard for all Villages.
