About this event
The Washington Aqueduct with Ralph Buglass
Free and Open to All
Friday, February 27, 2026
10:30 am- 11:45 am
The Washington Aqueduct, long in service, is currently undergoing a major rehabilitation. Through current and historical photos, Ralph Buglass will relate the fascinating history of this project, now a National Landmark, and look at its equally fascinating chief engineer, Montgomery Meigs, who was also Quartermaster General of the U.S. Army during the Civil War. In charge of all the troop logistics, Meigs has been described as “second only to General Ulysses Grant” in winning the war for the Union.
Our popular speaker, Buglass, is a member of the Montgomery County Speaker Bureau and an avid history buff. With Peerless Rockville, he is co-author of Images of America: Rockville, a pictorial history of the city’s 250 years.
An FHNN/LFV collaborative program.
