Vive la France!
A Getty Museum Presentation via Zoom
Monday, March 25
1:00-2:00 pm EST
Paris was the center of the universe for a long time and they have the stuff to back it up! Beginning with early French Manuscripts, we'll take an art walk through the history of France. You will see portraiture, landscape and still life works by some of the great French artists including Chardin, David, and Watteau, furniture made by some of France's finest ébénistes (cabinet makers) and decorative arts items that filled the palaces of kings such as Louis XIV. Then, moving up a century or so, we will look at Monet, Degas, Renoir, and others who made Impressionism their own.
This virtual tour is for FHNN and Little Falls Village members and volunteers as part of our collaboration. Register online. FHNN members or volunteers who need help registering can email information.fhnn@gmail.com with France in the subject line.
Our guide, Lee Rubinstein, holds dual degrees in English and History with a minor in Art History. She has been leading tours at the Getty since 2012. Additionally, she runs a year-long volunteer art program at a public school with disadvantaged pupils.
